I picked up a new book at the local Barnes today, and it has me intrigued. I'm not sure where the author will go with his conclusion, but his premise is good. The book is basically about the divided state of America... the us-versus-them mentality that keeps us (i.e. evangelicals) from dialogging and being understood by folks outside of the church. Though it's certainly written on a popular level, and without the cleverness of Donald Miller (which I appreciated), it seems that it will shape up to be a good read. The author basically did some street interviews, and well as some pre-arranged spots with folks like Al Franken, in order to open up some dialog with folks that don't hold to the Christian faith. His research was conducted over a period of two years, and he presents some of his encounters in the book. If you're interested, it's entitled "Lord Save us from Your Followers." I'll let you know if it's worth the 19.99 sticker price.
