Read a great line tonight in Karl Barth's Church Dogmatics I.1 (p. 140).
In discussion of the Word of God as speech, Barth reflects on the purpose of Scripture. I found the formation of his statement particularly poignant.
He states that the Bible's purposiveness should be understood as "the reality of the love of the God who does not need us but who does not will to be without us, who has directed His regard specifically on us."
Amen.

That single line unlocked my understanding of the love of God and sin.
